Our Research

Our laboratory aims to understand cellular and higher-order biological functions through single-molecule measurements of biomolecules. Through interdisciplinary research, we push our single-molecule measurement technologies to their limits and investigate how individual biomolecules and molecular assemblies perform physiological functions. We also develop methods to investigate the relationships between genetic mutations, functional abnormalities, and disease with single-molecule sensitivity and precision, generating new insights across biology and medicine.

Publications

We investigate biological phenomena and develop new bioanalytical technologies using single-molecule measurements. Our work spans biomolecular function, disease-related biomarkers, and rapid genetic testing, connecting fundamental research with medical and diagnostic applications. We share our findings through original research publications and work to translate our technologies into practical use through patents and collaborative research.
